The governance means the thing in which people need in order to rule or to keep a civilization up. First in the movie, all the boys had rules and followed it as if they were in a city, but city and the island are different; city laws have retribution but the island's laws do not. Which means that whoever breaks the law on the island will not be punished. As the result of this lack of governance, the choir boys followed Jack, who is overconfident, and break many rules. In the city, they probably do not break rules because they know that breaking rules will result them in a punishment. Therefore, the choir boys just followed Jack, who is also the oldest, so that they can have fun and hunt and have a feast. On the island, the rule is that whoever got the conch gets to speak, but the choir boys broke the rules and just ignore whoever speaking even though the person had the conch in the person's hand. In real life, countries with weak government will result the same thing as on the island; killings, crimes, rebellions, etc...
Jenny - Literature 9B
In the story, Ralph holds the position of the real leader (chief), whereas Piggy is just his friend/secretary who helps guide him using his intelligence and sense. Piggy supports Ralph with all his ability and relies on him to express his views that kinks to the adult world, because he lacks social skills and the boys see him as a victim or the weak point.
Ralph is asking Piggy about why the boys are turning into savage hunters and the point of them killing the sow's head (LOTF) and gave it to the beast as "a gift". He wants to know how the best English boys like them can turn into savage hunters with their primitive human behavior when they have the ability to choose not to be one. Their lacks of responsibility, for example, when Jack’s choir/tribe went down to hunt and kill pigs, they left the fire out of sight, and an airplane happens to fly pass by, and the fire happens to be out. If only they are responsible enough to keep the fire going, they could’ve been rescued at the first place.
Ralph wants them (savages) to understand that ‘unless they keep the smoke burning’, they won’t ever get rescued, and eventually they’ll live as hunters and die. Therefore, without the responsibility of a team work, they could never be rescued. He feels helpless, and he needs a friend who can guide him and all the boys through this crisis/chaos, so with Piggy’s intellectual, he’s hoping that Piggy could lead them to being rescued.

As things went on, since Jackhave break the rule, there's two civilization going on which is Ralph and Jack. Ralph have been very confused, and flet sad taht things got so wrong as he thought so. He asked a friend with much insight, and have been helping him lots, which is Piggy. I htink Ralph might wanted to "fish" Piggy for wanting him to tell why are they hunters, and wha'ts actually going on with Jack's civilization and wanted to know how could things fix to the way he and Piggy thought. THrough out the story, Piggy and Ralph have kind of similar thoughts/ idea. So he thinks that maybe Piggy knows what he want and how couldh e do to make thigns better. Also in the movie have actually shows how Ralph got snub, how's he's emotions and Piggy's the one supporting him the most. I would think that he wanted to know those answers because he felt so depress and wanted others to cooperate, he wants to make htings organize, and fix thing the way he wants it to be.

Ralph’s statement, “The rules are the only thing we got...!” had signified in reference to the brewing conflict between Ralph and Jack because Jack is jealous of Ralph’s leadership, so he expresses his madness by breaking the rules and showing others that he doesn’t obey Ralph like the little children and also the other bigger children. Also, this caused the conflict between Ralph and Jack because when Jack is provoke Ralph by breaking the rules and try to attack Ralph’s status, it already makes Jack want to take over Ralph’s place becaue of Jack’s jealousy.
Candy - Literature 9 A
"The rules are the only thing we got...!" These signify interference to the brewing conflict between Ralph and Jack. At first, Jack was jealous of Ralph, he just wants to hunt and let others listen to him. Therefore, when Ralph shouts at him about the rules, he was angry that someone who was smaller than he was shouting at him. In the movie, Ralph shouted at Jack, and Jack look angry, because he was to be the most power and big. This shows that some people are jealous and want to have the power to tell others to do things for him.
Ralph was leading them to a wrong way, which Jack and other boys turn to uncivilized, so he try to find concerned response and solutions from Piggy because he was depress and also wants a concern. I think he also want a solutions because, right now, he feel tired or depressed; and because Piggy think wisely or he think like adult or civilized way. In other word, he was fishing a solution from Piggy.
Jin - Literature 9B
Ralph was fishing for positive responses and supports from Piggy so he won't feel that guilty and gets comfort by someone and he needed more confidence. He is finding excuses to justify his actions because Piggy's response was "it's not your fault...", so maybe Piggy would've blame on others. During this time, the whole group had split into two and Ralph felt bad and doubt about his idea, either being rescued or become uncivilized savages, he can't make up his mind on what is right and wrong. The specific example, would be when most of the kids decided to join Jack's uncivilized tribe and have fun instead of staying in his tribe and try to get rescue. It made Ralph felt insecure about his ideas.
Joyce- English 9A
"The rules are the only thing we got...!" signifies the interference to the conflict of Ralph and Jack. Raulph is very mad at Jack because he left the fire behind and went to hunt while a place just flew by and they might have been saved. And because Jack is jealous of Ralph that he is the leader, so Jack don't care about the rules anymore. Because of Jack's emotions, the group shattered. He also wanted boys to follow so that he can be the leader/chief, it is all because of his jealousy.
Puh-ting English 9B
As the story went on, Jack and his croops leave Ralph's controllment and created their own new society.
Ralph was confused about why would modern people would turn into chaotic savage hunter-gathers and give up their modern living style, so he go find Piggy and ask for it.
I think that Ralph wanted to hear Piggy say something like it was not all totally his fault, he didn't do any thing wrong......something comfortable words so that Ralph won't feel so bad that Jack and his croops leave and create their own society.
For another possible answer, I think Ralph wanted to know that what had he done wrong to Jack and his croops and what are the ways that he can bring them back into modern people. He thinks that as a chief, he should have the resopnsibility to find and solve the problem in their society.
I think Ralph try to ask piggy that wheat was wrong with jack and those kids
Where are the rules that they used to follow Ralph think they shouldn’t be like that people forget about the hope being rescue he think human should have reason but all he saw for the hunter are act with their instinct he want piggy to throw something out to fill he mind he also try to find out why people won’t listen to him or believe in him anymore.
LITERATURE 9A
In the story, Ralph said this statement after Simon died. I think what Ralph wants to say is that people would live in a state of chaos without rules. The main point of the conflict between Jack and Ralph is that Jack is jealous. Jack is jealous that Ralph is the chief. He wanted to be the chief, so he made kids in chaos. Therefore, the kids started to listen to Jack. And then Ralph said “The rules are the only thing we got…!” and it created the brewing conflict because Ralph knew that the kids won’t listen to him anymore because Jack created his own tribe and most of the kids joined. I think Ralph wanted Jack to listen to him, because he thought the rules are the real things can help them to be rescued. But in the movie, Jack always interrupts Piggy when Piggy was talking about the rules. It means Jack doesn’t care about the rules. I think Jack also doesn’t care about any rescue, and Ralph is the one wants rescue, so the conflict created.
Anna - English A
The rules were the only thing there to organize them because there was no adult to look after them. Jack was the oldest among the children but instead of being chosen to be the chief himself, Ralph was chosen to be the chief. Jack was furious but still accepted it at first, but as things goes on, Jack felt annoyed of listening to instructions of someone smaller. After he hunted his first pig, the instinct of savagery and violence of him came out and he decided to set his own tribe and be chief himself. Ralph kept finding ways and tries to have them rescued, but Jack start to become more savage and influenced by power. Jack soon ignores the rules of making fire for rescue and concentrate on hunting instead. Rules were the thing to organized them, but they even break it themselves, which made the group break up. The rules they set up was the thing that separates them up since Ralph cared about rules a lot, but Jack ignores the rules.
Henry 9B
Ralph asked Piggy this question was after Jack broke down the rule, and form two civilizations. One was the Ralph’s group and one was the Jack’s group most of the children went towards Jack’s group.
Ralph was asking about why everyone start towards Jack’s group, and why was things going so wrong. I think he also wanted to asked why everyone don’t understand him if everyone work more like a team or more organize the chance been rescued will be higher. For example the English boys could choose been responsible and keep the fire on so the airplane come they can get rescued but last the hunter broke down the rule, when airplane come the fire was off. Ralph will choose to ask Piggy to guide him, because Piggy was intelligent hoping that he can give him the answers, also on the island Piggy was the one understand what he is thinking.
Jack's statement signify that he want to be the leader himself and he is jealous of Ralph. He is not happy about Ralph being younger and smaller than him but Ralph is the chief. He show the other kids on the island that he can be leader and have fun without following the rules. He break the rules so other would break the rule and don't care about the rules because he is the oldest and kids thinks that the older you are the stronger and better you are. Jack convince people by letting them know that if they go to stay with Jack, then they will have fun and have party but if they still stay with Ralph they will have to follow the rules and don't have freedom. For example when Jack broke Piggy's spec, he want to show the that he is the strongest and he is not scared of Ralph.
In the movie Ralph said that "The rules are the only thing we got...!". I think it means that on the island there was no adults, so the rules are the only things that it left to keep them organize. Ralph tell Jack to not break the laws that they have made, because of his jealous. On the island no one is making sure that everyone was following the rules, so they need to follow it themself. In the city, there was the police making sure that everyone is following the rules, in the island it will be more important to follow that they don't break the rules, to keep them together, civilize and organize.
Jack's tribe was more free(less rule), so they can do what ever they want, and this turn them into savage hunter (less civilize). When they are more free they start to hurt other and kill what every they want, this can show that they didn't have rule that is needed and they start to degenerate and become savage. Rule is very important on a island with no adult and Jack just ignore the rule, so they become like this in the end of the story. killing Ralph because he was jealous about him.
cIn general, Piggy was the brain of the society. He was intellegent but he didn’t have excellent social skills so people see him as a person who brings disgrace toward them. In that time Ralph asked Piggy things even when he already know. I think he was fishing from Piggy to supported his confidence. During the time, the society split into to different tribes. One is lead by Jack and other is Ralph. Since they split, Ralph felt bad he wanted to be rescued but people didn’t take a very serious view on it. Because Jack and his hunters did not keep the fire properly, if they did they could be rescued at the first time. If they wanted to be rescue by the others then they need to have responsibility on fire, because fire is the only hope they got. It is also the faith of the group.
Literature 9B
Ralph is chief, which means everyone should listen to him, and do what he orders. But because of Jack and his hunters not following the rules, by going hunt the pig and having fun and left the fire behind. Ralph might ‘fishing’ from Piggy because Piggy is the one who stand on his side, and support him. By his intelligence, and adult-mind, Ralph asks him why English boys are turning out into hunters, and not thinking it deeply of getting rescues. It makes Ralph depresses of their acting like childish, because the plane is pasting the island, and they are having fun and fire is went out. So Ralph is angry of their attitude, and irresponsibility, if they still work for the fire, they will get rescues.
DEMI English 9B
During the story, Jack split with Ralph and therefore Ralph is very sad and want Piggy to find some comfort, consolation. To let him feel, this happen is not all his fault. Piggy is the first child he met and the child who is kind hearted. He wants Piggy to tell him that these all happens is not his fault. Ralph thinks that maybe Piggy can tell him whats wrong, what happened. As a human, we need some consolation to tell us don't be too upset. If Ralph asked other people they might say as Piggy would do. Ralph notice that Piggy is a kind hearted child, so he will ask Piggy to get comforted.
Literature 9A
"The rules are the only thing we got...!" had signified the conflict between the 2, Jack and Ralph. Because of Jack's jealousy he break the rules which he's also the one who made it happened. At first when they're choosing the leader, Jack himself wanted to be because he's the oldest, but Ralph took over the position. He can take it at first, but he felt humiliated to be ordered by the one who's smaller. One of the rule that was make is to keep the fire going, but Jack concentrate on hunting too much that no one take care of the fire. Ralph complains about it and Jack can't handle it anymore so he breaks the rules. The rules are the thing that makes them organized because there aren't any adults with them.

The lack of governance is the lack of rules and laws. The choir boys went crazy withour rules. They were not afraid of the rules because they knew that there's no one to punish them on the isolated island. They murdered Simon and Piggy. After that, they went on hunting for Ralph. If that didn't happen on an island, they will be punished. But, everything's different without rules and governance.
The Choir boys, are the one who looked differently. They look stronger, and fiercer, and they sang a lot, showing greatness. The Choir boys in the story was led by Jack. Jack was first under Ralph's command, but later he showed everyone that he thinks Ralph arent strong enough to become the "leader", because in his mind, there's only the weak and the strong. Jack led the childrens, teaching others people how to hunt, while Raplh is trying to convince everyone how the "fire" is more important that singing, dancing, and hunting. When there's a chance for Jack to say what he wanted to say, he simply took it, and that way he feel strong and fiercful. His way of leading makes other wilder than usal, but it bring up the hunting and surviving instinct too. So his governance is a good and bad. Even Jack's way of leading has rules, and there's punishment, so the children would be afraid to challenge his rulling, and he would gain trust and power and is confident at what he is doing. He didnt even shed tear after Simon or Piggy dided, this showing that he is confident !

Ralph’s statement, “The rules are the only thing we got…!” signify or imply in reference to the brewing conflict between Ralph and Jack. On the island there was no adult, only children, therefore Jack was oldest on the island. Jack at first want to be a leader of all the children, but by the votes Ralph become a leader. Ralph makes the rule to make everyone follow him, including Jack the oldest person on the island. Jack was really jealous at Ralph because he was the oldest, but he doesn’t been choose as the leader, he lave to listen to someone that was older than him. Jack then try to break the rule to show that he is over Ralph; the rule that Ralph make which represent Ralph himself can’t control or order him. Jack have the only to control Jack, which is rules, so Jack try to loose control from Ralph by breaking the rule. In the story they are many scenes that Jack tried to break the rules that Ralph make to show that he is bigger, higher and have more power over Ralph. One of the examples is when Jack went hunting without keeping the fire on; he broke the rule of ‘always keeping the fire on’. Jack breaks this rule to show that he can do whatever he wants to do.

At this point Ralph was confused. He didn't know what to do next, and why this had happen. I think what Ralph was fishing from Piggy is to reassure his courage. I think Ralph lost his standing point, his guards are down, and so he needed someone to lean on. Ralph is the chief, but Piggy is the one who has brain. Ralph needed courage and a solution to all situations that were happening at that time. Ralph wants the others to understand that by having fire all the time is the only way they can be rescued. He felt very forlorn, and he needs someone to bring him back to where he used to be.
The word call governance means thing that rule on you or domisticate you on what you can do and can't do. When you say the boys on the island are lack of governance you mean that they doesn't have any arrangement. At first they are living as if they were well organise. After Jack break the first rule the who have the conch could speak which leads to bad row model. He is also confident in being a bad leadership because he was the first one who break the rule when Piggy got the conch and Jack just avoide Piggy. After that the little kids who saw that Jack break the rule, then from that on they strat being unarrange which without arrangment you would have a chaos situation. As you see when Jack was punishing the kids at there base, which means that the kid have done some thing wrong. He did the things that break the rule even though he know the rules beacuse he say that Jack breaks the rule, he can also break the rule.
Pat English C
In the movie kids on the island made rules to follow and voted for a chief and duties to do, creating a system similar to democracy where people gets to vote. They made rules such as who has the conch gets to speak. Ralph was the chief and had the most power but the choir boys mostly are in Jack’s control, they follow Jack. Regularly in real adult society when we have rules, we have punishments but in the beginning of the movie there was no punishment when they break the rules so kids like Jack are brave enough to say things like “Who cares about the rules?!” Because the governance was not completely complete and people don’t agree leads to conflicts between each other like arguments between Ralph and Jack in the movie. Because of no punishments kids aren’t scared so they break rules due to things such as selfishness, jealousy, over confidence, for fun, etc… and that leads to the separation of Jack’s group which is the choir boys from others. When Jack separated from Ralph he also built his own little society where he’s the one in charge and everybody has to do things like what he said, because Jack thinks he’s the best and the leader he tends to do things to pleasure him which is holding all power in his own hands. His rule is simple, do things as he wants or else they get punished such as the naked boy who got whipped in the butt because of doing something wrong. Because of having punishments it affected the feelings of the choir boys that this time they can’t break the laws and the laws are ‘real’. Laws without punishment doesn’t work but laws with punishments works on the choir kids.
Yao-yao English C
When the students land on the island, they first unite, then created rules that should be follow and everyone is responsible for something, this is governance. The "civilization" that was created has orders and rules, like the hunters, fire watchers, and food gatherers. First the choir boys were positive with the rules, and follow everything. Then the choir boys overvalue the fun and adventure they has, and start leaving their post, which result to a extinguished fire when it is most needed. After the fight of Jack and Ralph they became wilder, and don't obey any rules and respect others. This always happen when they interrupt people with the conch, and more terribly they set a hunt on Ralph. This is all the result of lacking governance, or a strong government body, so the choir boys have all the freedom they want including killing people....
Jacky 9B
After Jack left Ralph's group, most of the children went toward Jack's group too. Then he asked this "What's wrong, Piggy? Why are things happening the way they are?" to Piggy. I think that Ralph was fishing from Piggy to support his confidence. Ralph felt bad that because he want to rescue them, but Jack them didn't keep on the fire cause they couldn't got rescue at the first time the airplane flew away. If they want to be rescue, then they need to have the responsibility to take care of fire, it was the onlt way to be rescued. I think that he want to fish from Piggy is because he did not know which is the right way to lead them to rescue and he wants Piggy to tell him which way is correct. The example is that most of the children went to Jack's uncivilized group and having lots of fun but not stay in Ralph's group and keep waiting to get rescue.
"The rule is the only things we got “the conflict between Jack and Ralph. Jack doesn’t like Ralph to be a leader so, Jack want to be a leader because he is the oldest. He also breaking the rule that Ralph has been made up. There are a lot of rules. One of the rules is making fire going on but, Jack wants to hunt to survive in this island so, he left the fire out. That is the rule that Jack have break. At last Jack create his own group and make his new rule. Ralph can't control anymore and there are a lot of kid who have join Jack group. They have a rule because they have no adult with them so, they create a rule. Rule is like an adult that they tell u to follow.
Steve Literature 9C
Through out the story, there are lots of arguments going with Ralph and Jack. Ralph prefer to have rules, he told everyone that “Rule’s the only thing we have…” But Jack thinks that they should hunt and have things to eat, not only the rules. The responsibilities that they have, Jack broke it by himself. This is just like the Society we are in now, governments have rules, but some people couldn’t accept the rules or laws, so this would cause a lot of arguments. Therefore, “When a country with better and cruel government, people won't break the rules, which it signified that Ralph is on the weaker side, and Jack was the strong and confident, the side that every one's scared and would want to follow the rule."

The statement, "The rules are the only thing we got...!" have signified the conflict between Ralph and Jack. I think it because Jack is jealous about Ralph is the leader and Jack is the oldest on the island he should be the leader but Ralph is younger then him, how can he be the leader. Jack wants to show the other kids that they are on the island. So don’t need things like rule and it can have fun without the rules. Ralph thinks opposite with Jack, he thinks the rules are most important thing on the island. They need rules to control the kids, and get rescue as fast as they could. So jack thinks they can have fun on the island while they waiting to get rescue, and Ralph thinks they need to get rescue as quick as possible.

"The rules are the only thing we got...!" signify in reference to the brewing conflict between Ralph and Jack. "The rules are the only thing we got...!" This statement signified the conflict between Ralph and Jack, because Jack became jealous of Ralph and he was the one who started to break the rules. When they first formed a group, they needed a leader who can take care of them. So, they voted and Ralph became the leader. Jack did not satisfy with these votes, because Ralph was younger and smaller than him. Jack thought that oldest and strongest should take the charge of it, but instead of Jack, Ralph took over the place. One of the rules that were given by Ralph was to create fires, but Jack only focused on hunting. Therefore, Ralph showed his anger to Jack and he complained about the rules. Jack also got mad with Ralph, so he started to break the rules. Finally, he couldn’t bear for it and he left Ralph. After Jack left, others followed him; therefore Jack had a chance to be a new leader, so he became the leader. This all end up with Jack’s jealousy.

This is when jack started to break a rule and then he went out to make a tribe for himself. Then everyone started to go join his tribe. So Ralph was asking Piggy that why everyone starting to go join Jack group. I think the reason that Ralph was asking Piggy because Piggy is the only one who will understand him and Piggy is the only people that stay on his side. But other people was going to Jack side. I think that the reason that Ralph was fishing on Piggy because he want some answer that why no one understand him.
Pau English B
The response that Ralph wants to hear from piggy is that, it’s not really his fault for the entire thing that happens or something that would comfort him. He now felt very sad and confuse for the thing that happen because he was selected as a chief and if something went wrong its mean that he is not doing his job properly. So he’s asking his best friend that is it really his fault or it’s really their fault. He is trying to gain more confident from his best friend that is the thing he trying to do is the right thing or it is the wrong thing. Is getting rescued what we want or having fun is what we want. I think that by asking this it’s trying to say that should I just go and join the fun or should I continue the job as a chief because he is now lost. He don’t really know what to do next.
Ralph wanted to find out why Jack and his tribe (most of the boys) can turn into savage hunters with their behaviors when they can choose not to be one. For example, Jack’s tribe started to hunt and kill pigs, they started to steal things from others (the left over boys), and also being not responsible enough to their duties. This is because Ralph is hoping that Piggy, as a thoughtful person can guide him and all the boys through this adventure and being rescued. What they all need is to survive the hardship and fight for their lives. Piggy is playing a significant role to make their dreams come true.
“The rules are the only thing we got...!”
By this, what he meant was that The Rules are the only thing they have to survive. To survive they’ll need to keep the civilization going on. What the existence of civilization depends on is the rules. Rules are not made to be break. Therefore, if Jack broke the rules the structure of the civilization will be collapsed. When the only thing they have, rules are shattered chaos will overtake them. The rule includes they must always keep the fire burning thus they can get rescued and survive. Jack chooses to break the rules mainly because of jealousy, jealousy over the power Ralph have. Since the start he was in the “election” together with Ralph. This shows he also wants the power. When the two privileged with different point of views faced each other, one with power one with none, it’s normal for jealously to occur. “I’m the Boss. I got the power. Don’t break the rules” is might what it signifies, jealousy and fight over power.

At first, everybody sets up rules and orders and tries to work together so
they can get rescued. But later on when Jack got tired of following Ralph's
orders and the democratic system, he broke the rules he set up and agreed
with and start a rebellion against everyone including the society today.
His sense of anarchy arose, and he turned into a savage-like creature and
sets up his own tribe ruled by anarchy. The choir boys followed their leader
(jack) and showed their primitive behavior like savages. Their actions led all
the others' in to destroying the makeshift civilization they've worked on to
create.
【English9[A]】Jimmy
In my own point of view, Ralph’s statement about “The rules are the only thing we got…!” implied the disturbance conflict between Ralph and Jack, because when Jack was jealousy about Ralph’s leadership and power. He kind of started to betray the group, and that’s when civilization almost got left behind, therefore anarchy kind of came into places (Free for all). In the movie, these school children were living on an island without any adults, so certainly the rules are the only thing they got. Unfortunately Jack started to go against the leader (Ralph), and became the first person in the whole group to break the rules. So the whole point of the statement should be Ralph trying to imply Jack not to neglect the “rules” they created in the very first place.
First the choir boys make up rules to fallow, like the conch who has it can talk and everyone has a job like hunter and people who take care about the fire ….. Everyone is responsible for something and they chose Ralph to be the chief. At first the choir boys fallow the rule and everything but then one time the boys did not take care of the fire well and it light out and there is an airplane fly the boys start to think that fun and adventure is more important that responsibility and being rescue. After argues between Jack and Ralph they start goes out of control and breaking rules and stuff. This is what happen when there is lacking of governance

English 9C
The conch shell represents governance, or to govern and rule (start of civilization +organization). This is what they all agree to obey in the beginning. They bought up rules and proper behaviors to follow. For example, they elected Ralph as leader and who hold on the conch gets to speak, etc…However, later on they start breaking the rules and become savages. This lack of governance influences them and leads to anarchy/chaos. In addition, it is irony that people who created the rules are the one who break it. For example, Jack’s group become more uncivilized and violent, and eventually killed Piggy and Simon. Also, the hunters are irresponsible to keep the fire going (hope for survival). In conclusion, no matter how innocent or pure a person is, the may result insane/crazy because of the lack of leadership and governance.
When Ralph declared the rules, the boys were united. At first all the boys were still following the rules that was made but one boy, Jack, starts to break those rules by speaking when he was not suppose to and all kinds of other unwanted behaviors. Also because he was the leader of the choir, therefore many of the boys are his friends and when he started this behavoir other people starts to act on the same behavior. This may be because in cities the boys are all under adult's control, therefore if they broke the rules then they know that they'll get in trouble. In this case, the boys were on the island and no adults are there to control him. There is only Ralph as a chief to control the boys but the boys were mostly from Jack's choir, this causes Jack to be overconfident and broke rules. It is like his territory because he is more familiar to the boys. This results as in rebellion on the island and everyone hunted Ralph instead of punishing Jack. It is the lack of control because no one is the adult that children are afraid of, it also proves that all the boys are still childish and can't make any clear decision by their own.
In my opinion, I think that the lack of governance, influence and effect the choir boy in the island by leading them to violent and savage. In the beginning of the story they have the conch to represent the rule. At first the boys follow the rule, then later on when they seem to have fun with hunting and fooling around the hunter group broke the rule by letting the fire off. Then they start to be violent and sadist. In the story when Piggy says some thing Jack went to slap his face. So this is showing of violent. They also not scared of the punishment because there is no one to punish them. The boy might get too much freedom so they don’t know what is right or wrong and they became savage.

In the beginning of the story when Ralph was the leader of the group and created the rules, but there were no punishments. But the only boys how didn’t follow the rules was Jack because he was the leader of the choir group so he also wanted to be the leader of this group too. And also, he wanted to have a lot of fun same as most of the boys in the group. So, when Jack separated himself out from Ralph’s group, most of the boys followed him because they wanted to hunt and have fun. Jack’s group had punishments so the civilization was stricter. But for Ralph, he knew that he need to survive and it was not the way Jack’s civilization does.

The choir boys couldn’t responsible for the fire because they are following Jack, who was not the leader anymore. Jack told Ralph that he and his choir boy will be the hunter and responsible for the fire. When the plane came, the fire was out because they were busy hunting. The boy always broke the rules because there were no punishments for breaking rules.

Before they were stranded on the island, the choir boys were used to obeying orders from others. Jack is the leader of the group, and so he tends to like to take control. Without governance, Jack and the choir boys cannot maintain their normal lifestyle. They are not used to living without rules that they can follow, and so cannot really get along with others. When someone else other than him had the chance to lead, he also cannot really accept the fact that others prefer Ralph more than him. True, Jack did not argue that much when Ralph was elected as leader, but he wasn’t satisfied with it, and still wanted to be in charge of something (the hunters). In the story, Jack ends up fighting with Ralph and creating his own group and rules. This shows that no matter how much he tried to hide it, he is still power thirsty, and thrives on leading someone, and so he ended up ruling his own people like he wanted. In addition to that, the fact that no one will get punished on the island also affected them. This caused them to go wild, and decided to rebel against Ralph in order to make up their own group.

When these choir boys in their school they live with rules. The leader of these boys was Jack. After they got stuck onto this island they found Ralph, Piggy, and other boys, then everyone agree to choose the chief most of them choose Ralph to be the leader but only the choir boys choose Jack. Jack is always proud of being leader so after his notice that Ralph will be the leader he is a bit unhappy about it, then the choir boys could not live without rules because they always rule in their school. The choir boys think that these people are lack of rules, so they decided to separate into another group.

Governance is to control a civilization, and organize to make people to live in peace. In the story, it was only children who landed on the Island without any adult, so they had to do everything by themselves, including governing themselves, but being children was in the stage of human which didn't experienced much thing in their live, so they would also didn't experienced how to govern, they didn't understand which way will organize civilization the best, so this is the reason why they lack of governance. The choir boys in the Island was a group of children who was more stick together and had Jack as their leader, so the choir boy was respect and believe in him, like when they vote for the chief all the choir boys vote for Jack. The choir was like a little society which obeys Jack order in the civilization that had Ralph as chief, so they were more separated/ individual, and this means that the choir didn't 100% satisfied to had Ralph as their chief, but they want Jack to be. This foreshadow that if Ralph didn’t govern them good enough or made them to not respect in him this would separate the choir from the civilization. The lack governance influences the choir to not seriously follow the rules or follow the chief order because the law didn’t strict enough and didn’t have the consequence when breaking rule to make them scare to be punish and seriously follow the law. For example in the movie, the part that Jack went to hunt instead of keeping the fire burn as Ralph told him to do. The lack of governance also affects the choir to separate from the civilization because Ralph was not good enough to control the choir and made them listen to him, plus that they were at first want Jack to chief more than Ralph and Jack also want to be the chief, so when it reach the point which Jack don’t want to listen to Ralph anymore because Ralph didn’t govern good enough this cause separation.

As Ralph's statement "The rules are the only thing we got...!" this statement signify the interference of the brewing conflict between Ralph and Jack, because in the point of the story Jack is jealous of Ralph that he could be the leader. "Rules" are the only this can keep them organized, since there is life without 'adults'. Ralph he understood that kids won't listen to him anymore, because in their theory they believe only the 'fittest' could lead the team! He want Jack to listen to him, because only keep the fire lilting could get them rescued, but no one listen to him anymore. Actually at this point of time the 'monster' is living in Jack's heart, because of his jealousy he is using dirty tricks. He doesn’t even felt guilty when they accidentally kill Simon and when they kill Piggy!

The conch shell signified structure/rules in the group, start of civilization. They elected Ralph as leader and who hold on the conch. Later on they start breaking the rules and become savages. This lack of governance influences them and leads to disorder. This is irony that people who created the rules are the one who break it. They are careless to keep the fire—when the plane flew by (in the book is the ship floated by). Jack created his own group, the group of uncivilized and violent, they (Simon) killed Simon and Piggy. So no matter how good the people are, they may result crazy because of the lack of governance. The lack of governance, influence and affect the choir boys in the island by “leading” them violent and savage.
In this time, the kids were separated into two tribes, most of them join with Jack because he had food to eat and be able to give everyone too. During this, Ralph wants to fish positive things that Piggy say. Therefore, he can get comforted because he thought that this happen by his fault, and also he didn't want Piggy to feel guilty. Now, most of them that join with Jack started to act like uncivilized people, which are they run around almost naked, painted their faces, and liked to hunt. They act like early uncivilized people. For this, Ralph wanted everyone to know that we should have rules to obey (like civilized people that they are)and things that he told them such as about fire. He wanted everyone to get rescue, but they didn't care because they gave up all of their responsibility just only because they wanted to have fun and adventure.

After the kids were united by the couch, they created rules to follow and voted a chief and decided duties for each people, this is governance. They had Ralph as a chief and a hunter group where they would find foods and continuing the fire. Everything was organized. However, they lived on an island where there are no adults so there would be no punishments. Then the kids would be brave enough to break the rules for their own benefits. At first, Jack break the rule that who had the couch could speak and he didn’t receive any punishment, so this is a bad example for every kid. Then the choir boys became obsessed in hunting wild pig and started not to do their most important duty, which this lead to the argument between Jack and Ralph. Next, breaking rules soon lead to the separation between the group, Jack’s group and Ralph’s group. They became wilder and they started to kill each other. Jack’s group killed Piggy and set a hunt for Ralph. Lacking of government would make people become wild and out of control then they would kill each other.
The lack of governance are the rules and laws. In the movie, everyone followed the rules they get; even Jack. But them latter on Jack start to breaking the rules(who ever get the conch that person can speak, but then when Piggy has the conch; Jack are not follow the rule.); since there were not any adult there, so Jack didn't get any punished. Therefore choir boys just follow whatever Jack do, because it(hunting) is more fun then to keep the fire, also they won't get any punished. And if there is anybody killed people, the killer will get the punished; but in there(island) is no one will get the punish.
